I'm bringing David Mitchell to this virtual party. I will be dressed in an incredibly glamorous sequinned number. Maybe with feathers. What? This is a virtual party, right? We'll play my absolute favourite parlour game of 'first lines' - someone picks a book and reads out title, author and back cover blurb. Then everyone writes a 'first line' for the book and you all have to guess the real one. I have been known to go purple laughing so much at this game. And we'll eat profiteroles and cheese and pineapple on sticks. Perfect!

No, no, no ..... Amy has stolen my date! Oh well, if I can't have Robert Downey jr, it will have to be George Clooney. Lots of sushi to eat. As I can't wear woolly jumpers (they make me itch) I would just have to show off my socks - assuming that my cable cuff socks would be finished in time. The game would have to be a 'why did I buy that yarn' swap, when you hope not to win the ugliest yarn in the room!

oooh a party. how lovely. havent been to one in ages...

as this is YY party there will obviously be knitting. So I'd bring along Sandi Toksvig because on Saturday's excess baggage (Radio 4) she said something disparaging about the Norwegian Knittng Museum, and she obviously needs to be introduced properly to all that is fair and lovely about this ancient craft.

Anyway, games: pin the tail on the sheep; musical hairs - like musical chairs, but with skeins of yarn (it's just hair right?) instead. One skein is removed at each round and the player without a skein in their hand when the music stops has to drop out. Knitters pass the parcel, with plenty of consolation goodies (stitch markers; patterns etc) along the way and a satisfying stash of yarn goodness in the middle for the lucky winner.

Food - my all time party favourite: cheese and pineapple on a stick for its 70s retro feel, along with bowls of guacamole, hummus and aubergine dip and plenty of crudites. There would need to be jelly and icecream as well, natch. And something nice in the way of cake - how about chocolate brownies with beetroot? HFW has a good recipe in his last book (River Cottage Everyday).

I'd wear a gorgeous dress which shows off a small waist, an ample bosom and perfectly slender ankles - the sort of thing which all the fashion mags are showing for this autumn/winter, and which I'm unlikely to wear IRL because my post-partum waist is not really a waist, just the place where I bend in the middle, and because I am still breastfeeding, so dresses are a bit tricky if boob access is required! my ankles are pretty good though!

Thansk for the invitation to the party - I'd love to cvome I haven't been to a party for a very long time.
I'd bring Patrick Stewart - for his lovely voice and overall scumptiousness.
I'd come in the little black dress I'd love to be able to wear, with a completed Jane Thornley shawl, that's on the back burner cos I have nowhere to wear it.
And I'll bring spicy black-eye beans and mushroom mix and baked cheesecake.
We'll play name the logo, identifying yarn brands from their labels / website banners.

I'm going to be a saddo and bring along Edward Cullen (Robert Pattison) (I'm a bit of a Twilight freak lol). Don't worry, he wouldn't eat anything or anyone he has to go off in secret to do that, lol I would make a huge Chocolate Fudge cake, 'slurp' and bring along a very large teapot for copious amounts of tea. I would wear a black dress with a red shawl. We would play Pass the Parcel and everytime the music stopped someone would rip off the paper and there would be a knitting related gift under every layer i.e stitch markers etc , so everyone is a winner.the final layer would be a skein of Crannog.

Happy Birthday Natalie and Yarn Yard x

I'd bring Robert Downey jr, he could sit in the corner of the room with a twinkle in his eye and a sardonic grin and his arms outstretched to hold the yarn we were winding into balls. Then he'd pull out his wallet, buy the shop dry and throw the skeins to our various out-stretched hands.

The theme should be Hollywood and the food would be a series of really yummy canapes like mini burgers, salmon mousse, mini bacon and egg pie and meringue and choux buns and macaroons.

Games - charages and Who am I all with a Hollywood theme. Plus a "fake Oscar speech" round where everyone has to hold a yarn yard skein and thank everyone from Natalie through to their mothers

I would serve fresh gluten-free olive oil bread, a yummy vegetable soup with a dollop of pesto on top and definitely some kind of decadent flourless chocolate cake for dessert. My guest would be the Yarn Harlot because I have always wanted to meet Stephanie in person. For a party game, we could make up knitting patterns by each taking turns writing one line of the pattern and passing it to the next person, who could only see the previous line.

Happy birthday to you and the Yarn Yard!

We met at work.
A colleague wuickly pointed out that if we married I's be Mrs Mary Whitehouse (this is 30 years ago). Enought to put anyone off!
It took us 9 years to get together - he'd moved away by then but a chance letter from me prompted him into action!
Married for 27 years last week, three children and we're still best friends.
