Lunch PDF Print E-mail
Friday, 02 November 2007

This is the second blog post of three today. You may want to read the Breakfast one below this first, it will make more sense that way.

I'm a bit peckish. Lunch is pasta, half a jar of pasta sauce topped with cheese. and in my case, a dozen olives from the jar in the fridge. The salad suggestions are great, thank you. I'll show you what I make this evening in the Dinner post later.. I found a good use for the last 150mls of cider too, and no I didn't just drink it Innocent.

Here is the sock progress pic.

I'm hoping to finish it this weekend. And then I can start on my Secret Christmas Knitting. This is a little tricky as it's a secret from Other People, but not from all of you.... I may need to work on how I can show it to you without Other People seeing it. Maybe I'll put it on the Club blog. Other People won't look there. I'm finding that the progress pics are helping to keep me doing something, knitting, spinning or whatever.

Agatha is enjoying her nocturnal twirls.

I love that she is so "engineered".

And her bobbins are, well, HUGE.

Majacraft bobbin on the left, Ashford bobbin on the right. See what I mean? HUGE.

I appreciate that this doesn't look much different from the first picture, but trust me, it is. Half an hour of spinning every night. I'm almost done with the first 50g of fibre.

The menopausal chickens are running about outside. It's November - I grant you, it's a pretty mild November so far, but even so, they are both moulting. There are pale grey feathers all over the garden. And as they lose a feather a new one grows in its' place. But not right away. So for several weeks they have been looking pretty scraggy. Now I am not saying that scraggyness is a feature of the menopause, but overheating is. So, I'm wondering if the girls are having hot flushes?

And then there is now a distinct lack of production in the egg department. Most of the Summer they have produced about 5-6 eggs a week, each. We had an embarrassment of eggs to give to friends and neighbours. But in the whole of October they only gave us fifteen eggs between them.

And lastly, in this cornucopia of bits and pieces, I have some socks to show you.

I didn't make them. I wish I had, but it wasn't me.

I really, really wish it was though.

And wait until you see the soles....

It's enough to make me give up knitting.

I found these on the Gallery page of the best site I have seen in AGES. I emailed the owner and asked if I could post the photos rather than just the links and she very generously said yes.

If you come back at dinner-time, I'll tell you where her site is, but be warned, you are going to need to set aside an hour for this one, at least.

n

Heading to PO now.

It's a good job I got my blackberry when I did so I can check back later to see who made those amazing socks.

I'm away all weekend and I really don't think I could wait until Sunday night to find out.

Wooooot! Natalie! I'm so glad the wheel is there! I've been thinking that it should have arrived long ago, and was hoping you were enjoying the experience--and the faster speeds.

Um, should I tell you about the plying set (if you don't already have it), which can hold roughly 2 of those normal 4-ounceish plastic bobbins? :-)

Wonderful socks, I really don't think I'd have the patience to do those!

As for menopausal chickens, my family have enough with me, let alone chickens!

Hope they get back to normal soon.

Is it worth having a word with the vet?
